Dress the Part (I’ve Got You Covered)

When booking your next couples photoshoot, or celebrating your engagement, have a good think about the location you’d like to choose.

When you choose a location, you want to not only consider the ‘vibe’ you’re going for, but if there is anywhere local that is meaningful to you.

For me, that is the big beautiful tree in Spinnaker! I have almost all of my sessions there. But for you, that may be the beach where you spent some time together or perhaps the cinema where you had your first date. I’m always happy to go with my couples ideas and try out new locations! For some, it may just take me a little extra time to get permission to photograph there and organise a time when it’s less busy.

When you have been together for some time and had photoshoots in the past, sometimes it’s nice to change things up and try something new and exciting! So why not book a photoshoot at a car wash, a session posing with my classic car or having a paint fight? I always have some crazy ideas like these so if you’d like any other suggestions, please ask!

Styling Tips

Don't match, co-ordinate! Say you'd like to all wear blue for your photoshoot - you certainly can! Just make sure they're different shades that complement one another. Such as; a blue floral dress, a blue and white striped shirt, a light blue shirt etc. Keep in mind that you don't want more than one person in a patterned outfit. If you are a big group, it would be okay as long as they're not directly next to one another as it is a little too busy.

Trying to co-ordinate everyone can be hard! I suggest starting with one person and going from there. Say you have an outfit you absolutely love, lay it out on your bed. Then you can start selecting items to lay next to it. I find doing this can help you narrow your selection.

Next tip is to check everything fits! If not, it may be time to buy something new or preowned. Don't forget to consider reaching out to friends or family to loan items. If you do go to buy something, make sure it's something you'll wear again someday. I have so many outfits that never see the sun and it’s such a shame!

There are so many ways to celebrate a growing family!

You never need to wait until you have a big bump to start photographing your journey. As someone who only ever made it to 24 & 35 weeks, I like to celebrate every single stage as they are all so precious!

Hospital and Home

For all in hospital and in home sessions, small speedlights (flash) will be used when natural light is not enough. The client is responsible for tidying the space where the shoot will take place. Removal of objects from the background is available at an additional charge per image. Simple marks will be removed off walls if required. Sessions are typically held with the client in bed, seated on the lounge or in the nursery as well as standing near a window.

In Studio

For all studio sessions, held in my South Gladstone studio, a variety of wraps, headbands and beanies will be provided. A client closet is also available for use. Backdrops will be smoothed and extended using photoshop at no extra charge. Clients booking a posed newborn session may choose their preferred colour schemes, select up to three colour combinations and choose between a bed, bucket or basket as their prop. All items are washed and sterilised between clients.

Whether it’s a birthday, a beauty boost, or a “just because” celebration, your portrait session is all about you... and any pets you want to include.

When planning your location, think about the vibe you want to create—soft and dreamy, urban and edgy, or lush and natural. Choose somewhere that reflects your personality and style, or opt for the studio for a timeless, controlled look. I’m always happy to share location ideas to match your vision.

Outfit choices can make a huge difference. Pick something that flatters your skin tone and, most importantly, makes you feel confident and radiant. If you’re unsure, my client closet is available with a curated selection of beautiful dresses and outfits you’re welcome to borrow.

Every session includes complimentary skin retouching and basic photoshopping, so you’ll receive images that are polished while still looking like the best version of you.

For Proms/Formals it’s best to plan your location around a few aspects.

You will want somewhere relatively close to your venue or meeting point, so you’re not rushed travelling to your final location after the session.

You will want to be mindful of your, or your partners, hair and not pick a location that is too windy. Picking a location that compliments the colours of your outfits and the vibe you’re wanting from your session is also important. I’m always happy to help give you location ideas when you book with me.
